Redpath needs to stay exactly where it is for as long as possible.

Watching the enormous ships is an awesome feature of Sugar Beach.

Not that I watch, but I don't remember ever seeing any huge freight ships coming in to the ports in Lake Ontario.
You're missing quite a show.

Few more:

I agree completely, Redpath sweetens up the whole of East Bayfront and I hope it stays. The reason it's endured this long is that it IS compatible with future waterfront development, and, it's one of the few industries that truly benefits from it's proximity to shipping. If this wasn't the case they wouldn't be able to justify the rent (or the high cost of ownership).

Much of this here I think has to do with how nice those pictures are. Take any grey Tuesday and sit on that beach, and that ship looks terrible (imo). I mean, after all, we're debating here going to a beach beside a processing factory.

And if we're going for the Hamburg waterfront commerce thing, we've got a long ways to go.

Queens Quay blvd is going to be completely redone. Looks awesome

It does look awesome. What happens when a taxi, tour bus or someone running into grab a Starbucks blocks the ONE lane of vehicle traffic in either direction though? That will be interesting.

I have to disagree 100% with that. My kids love going to that beach and a big part of the appeal is the fact that they can sit and play in the sand while watching that new big green arm empty the holds of these impressively large, and impressively close ships. And generally when I talk to people relaxing on the beach they think it's pretty cool to see as well. And the weekends I've been there it has been very busy, so I don't think the Redpath factory is stopping anyone from using the beach, to me it is an added bonus.

The only issue I have with Redpath is that currently there is no decent way of walking to the new attractions on the eastern waterfront from the central waterfront.

Well, clearly I'm outnumbered ;) Something that's been happening somewhat consistently since I joined this board. :)

I would like Redpath to stay, but what needs to be improved is the sidewalks along that area. Redpath acts as a barrier almost, as you have to walk on the tracks to get across, and it is quite a smelly eyesore. Make it more pedestrian friendly and it will open up the eastern waterfront so much more.
