What looks to be some core samples being taken on the south side

I am hearing that this will be 10 storeys above ground of usable space (possibly higher with mechanical?). It will essentially replace the floorprint of the existing west wing, flush with the medical sciences building with connections into its 7 storeys of lab and office space.

Technically it will be called the "Temerty Building". Perhaps need a thread title change.

The new building will replace a building that results in a boring dead zone at a vibrant gateway to the campus. It would be amazing if it met the walkway at King's College Circle with a coffee shop, restaurant, library, study spaces, and/or an academic services office. Who could I contact at U of T to express these comments?
Lots of windows and lobby spaces are envisioned with study spaces throughout.

I believe that roof structure is related to the geothermal heating/cooling recently connected to the building from the parking garage under King's College Circle. You can also see the new piping in the second photo on the roof of the 4th storey (they went up through a stairwell). The piping goes back down from the roof in the east stairwell by Queen's Park.

As per @Student99 's helpful insight, there is a story on this from Medemail (a publication of Temerty) which can be found here:

Speaking of Temerty..........the U of T posted a celebration/review piece of 5 years since the Temerty donation that renamed the Faculty, examining the various resulting accomplishments.

That can be found here:

Of all the things..............

A report to the next meeting of Preservation Board seeks to designate Med. Sci as heritage.

I read the report...........it doesn't mention trying to preserve a sore thumb, or a uniquely ugly building anywhere. It actually suggests the design involved craftsmanship, pfft!

Ironic.. as they demolished the original school of practical sciences building (engineering) to pave way for Med Sci, which in hindsight would obviously stand as heritage today

@Northern Light, is this crane the project this thread is about? Should this be changed to under construction and have this crane added to the database @interchange42 @Paclo. Hard to shoot here, no real good angle.

No.

The crane is unrelated to project for the west building except in that it is moving some stuff around as part of a semi-related project.

Temerty will move forward in 2026. Stay tuned.
