Just bizarre to see a private home right beside this massive construction project.
Yup! The city likes to keep it as a historical novelty street with single family homes. Surrounded by highrises and skyscrapers. Maybe in the future they can find a way to zap it from this location to another dimension.

The city should proactively work towards making Draper St. a mixed-use street optimized for restaurants, shops, perhaps some offices or other businesses etc. while maintaining the historic feel of the street but adapting it to something new. Preserving some single family homes for wealthy people there is just silly and not beneficial to the city. Something like Markham St. in the old Mirvish Village would be a great repurposing.

Agreed. In my perfect fantasy world Draper would be closed to traffic and turned into a pedestrian woonerf with restaurants and small shops occupying the older houses. Replace the street with brick pavers, install some catenary lighting and lots of plants.

it's crazy how small the northern buildings look from that angle, yet when you see pictures from the ground right beside them they look massive
