This is complete speculation. The supercolumns will ultimately hold all the floors so no internal support columns are needed. However during construction and while diagonal support trusses (for lack of knowing proper vocabulary) are built the floors need to be supported by temporary columns. Maybe that's what these are. My undestanding was the supercolumns would only hold the floors from ground level up though.

Looking at the photos above, it appears this particular floor does indeed have support columns; they are already poured. The floor plan on the previous page indicates them also. It seems like the diagonal supports will begin on the ground floor.

It adds a certain je ne sais quoi pas. (Also ever since using them as a measuring too for the supercolumns they've become a must).

I'm really interested to see how the floor is incorporated into those diagonal braces. Has anyone seen a similar situation before? I suspect we will be seeing a large amount of rebar working its way in and around that steel.

I was talking to one of the construction bosses for this project and he said the developer will be delayed from their current goal of 2023, which I think we all knew in here. He told me more realistically it won't be all finished until 2025. The commercial component will be later in 2021, and the hotel 2022. But final completion not until sometime in 2025.
