This is a midtown condo development on the lrt along king, and looks promising.

Decided to showcase this next because apparently it's noteworthy for being on of the first electric only condo towers in the province

how much electricity is really needed to heat a 500sf 1 bedroom unit? Or is it maintaining the heating system that gets expensive? I know electric heating gets pricey, but my understanding was that it was in the range of about 2-3x the cost, not 20.

That gap will be closing very soon anyway with the carbon tax in the next couple of years. Natural gas is going to get far more expensive soon.
 
This one seems like it's been crazy slow for a building with basically no underground work. Basically stalled and but is suddenly now on its second above ground floor.

Some precast also applied already too, typical dark grey.

Is that cast-in-place concrete that's going up on the exterior?! That's rare these days…

this is a total precast modular building - a lot of them are going up west of toronto in cities like Hamilton, KW and London
Look, @DavidCapizzano, if it doesn't happen in Toronto, it doesn't exist!

(Thanks, didn't know. It would be great to see delivered sections awaiting assembly/installation, if at all possible @emphur or others!)

Obviously these are from a little earlier on in the year but these are a bunch of the precast sections, they were delivered/stored at what is currently the vacant lot of the Metz (formerly Schneiders, and set to undergo massive redevelopment but it's a few years off still)

VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) industrial heat pumps are quite magical and will probably be standard equipment in 5 years (alongside natural gas). They put heat where you want heat (water boiler, etc.) and cold where you need cold (elevator mechanical rooms). In spring/fall you can move heat from the hot sun-side to the colder side of the building calling for heat very cheaply.

You can save quite a bit of gas in summer just preheating water from city distribution temperature with a single 30 ton unit (~100 apartments cooling).
