Geez - what a sad state those light polls are in caltranes first pic. And this is Canada's premier financial district? ...ugh.

thx for the trump pics, cal, I think this one will start to really move once they finish the lobby floor....

Just an FYI, the hotel lobby is on the ground floor. On floor 8 you will find the administrative offices, floors 9 and 10 you will find the kitchen and meeting and conference rooms. Once construction hits floor 11, things will pick up the pace greatly as the majority of the hotel condominium floors 11-29 are very similar.

Hey, FYI, posted a few shots from last month on the http://construction.trumptoronto.ca site and a few shots of our hotel condominium model suites on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=81836&id=90955842823&ref=mf

Thank you for the info. TT, and for continuing to take the time to keep us updated with information on Trump Toronto. It's very much appreciated!

Yes, thanks for the clarification! :)

Those lights are classic Toronto streetlights (Toronto proper that is in respect to the former Metro). I've been wondering when they will go, but I doubt the city will ever part with that style. The most we would probably get is the poles changed.

I think for this stretch of Bay around Trump Tower, they should have continued the new lighting that was put around the east and north sides of the Bay Adelaide Centre.

Dont know about that......I think its more of a classic reminder of our old infastructure that the city has no funds to improve.

Looks like my theory about the ramp to the basement being partially covered up with a level ramp through the ground floor for construction delivery purposes was right. The article at http://construction.trumptoronto.ca/2009/08/construction-update-august-2009/ states that:

"Moreover, the construction team can now deliver and move materials more quickly and with minimal disruption to traffic on Adelaide and Bay streets. This convenience has been achieved by the installation of a temporary ramp that gives access to trucks directly to the building. Trucks are able to enter on one side, deliver materials and exit on the other side of the site."

IIRC, all the streetlights were replaced in the late 80s and the thinking at that time was to maintain the classic look. The poles on Bay are an eyesore, left over from the days of the trolley buses. The poles and streetlights ow belong to Toronto Hydro, so it's up to them to replace them.

Which means they will never be replaced.
Those hideous street lights go for the entire stretch of Bay, even through most of the north section.

I have people over from Germany, and we went for a nice walk yesterday evening. They wanted to know why:
- the city was covered in hydro wires and old poles
- the pavement and sidewalks looked 3rd world (patching the sidewalks with asphalt)

I told them that they sounded like Torontonians.
