Overnight work commencing for signal bridge removal.

Has any construction actually started on this station?
Yes - preliminary work has been done, including utility location and signal removals. I think the project will likely ramp up shortly, as they are completing the work concurrently with the St. Clair West Transportation Master Plan (i.e., extending Davenport, widening St. Clair, etc.), all of which is set to be completed by 2031.

Does that include the Gunns Road extension as well?

Yes - it's all included in that master plan. I e-mailed the engineer who is managing the project and this was his response: "Portions of the TMP is being delivered concurrently with the St.Clair Old Weston Smart Track Station by Metrolinx. There has some preliminary works already and will ramp up. The completion date is set for 2031." My question was about the TMP, but I read his response as meaning both the TMP/the new Go Station are set to be done by 2031.

7 years to build a GO Station! After so many years of planning already.... absolutely ridiculous

It does continue to astound me that the province/city put so much money/time into speeding up the Gardiner construction, while letting all of our transportation infrastructure projects languish. We should be doing the same 24/7 work they are doing on the Gardiner on every single transit project.

To be fair, it’s not as if construction is starting tomorrow. A single GO Station will not take 7 years to build. It is unfortunate how long it takes to get things going, however.

The actualy construction wont take 7 years, but the overall process to build straightforward stations are taking that long.

Caledonia, Park Lawn, King-Liberty are other GO stations that are taking forever and will all virtually take 5+ years to be complete. Which is a downright embarrassment as other cities in the world can construct a full subway line in that same amount of time.

No disagreement there!
