I can see "its a parking structure" but not "go park in the parking structure". Parking Garage is my preferred name. Funny how many names there are, it almost shows how ingrained car culture is. They say the inuit have 100 names for snow, Canadians have 100 names for parking garages.

Parkade sounds awkward to me though. I'd take "carpark" over parkade, but I'll continue saying "parking garage" (or "parking structure" as GO calls them).

Not even the same thing, a parkade is a multi story parking garage. Car park is what the Brits call a parking lot.

At lest with calling something a parkade, people know exactly what it is. Unless of course you're new to the country.

Thread should be Sherway Gardens Expansion (2s + 3s Parking garage, 2s, Nordstrom + Saks, Dialog Architects)

July 11 and over 100 photos up on site.

Since I was in the area and killing a few things at the same time, decided to catchup what taking place at the mall since my last visit.

The first 2 levels of the parking structure is now open with the 3rd close due to construction.

The final steel beam for the expansion is waiting to be place and workers to sign it, but will be some time before it place.

They are saying Nordstom will not open until 2017 since the signs inside the mall have been change for that date.

Work is under way for the expansion of Saks and looks like that area of the current parking lot will be 2/3 story of parking and the expansion.

The inside of the mall getting redone as well. Its too bad they can't raise the ceiling of the mall in most areas as they are to low and lack light.

From the mall, Hudson's has seen a make ovre as well.

Did they build the new Sherway parking structure with expansion in mind, say in 10-15 years they wanted to add 1 or 2 more parking decks, will it be possible?

I wonder too if Sherway has ever considered where subway access would fit into the mall if the #2 Line were to be extended eventually (a distinct possibility).

The food court is being moved to the north-westish side extension, and a new main entrance established up there, to better connect with whatever subway extension might get built in the future.
