New Park at 1 Defries Street


A new 420m2 park is coming to 1 Defries St Opens in new window, as part of a residential development at Defries Street between Mark Street and Labatt Avenue in the Regent Park neighbourhood.

Project Timeline

  • Spring to Summer 2022: Community engagement and design development
  • Fall 2022 to Spring 2023: Detailed design
  • Spring to Summer 2023: Hire a construction team
  • Summer 2023: Construction starts
  • 2024: Construction complete, park opens
The timeline is subject to change.

My input: Too busy. Trying to do too many things in too small a space. Pick one program only: Playground, or DOLA, or Nature.

No Fitness Stations, less clutter, a bit less hardscape, seating w/backrests required.

I wouldn’t call that a balcony but rather a ledge and probably not working but could be on his cell phone. Maybe he is Velcro’d to the wall? Calling for help?

He'll have fall pro that's anchored to a fixed point. The bigger issue is any fallen workers must be rescued within 10 minutes of falling. Otherwise, the fall pro gear starts to injure your lower half. You could lose your legs (or plums if you didn't fit the gear snugly enough).
