Toronto Ripley's Aquarium of Canada | 13.11m | 2s | Ripley Entertainment | B+H

I'm really looking forward to checking it out. Some friends of our's with young kids (like us) who have gone have even said that the season pass would be definitely worth it.

I was there today. Disappointed the pavement where the new concrete benches are all cut up. The rest of the area are brand new. Why are they half-ass over a small area.

They're ripping up the pavement of that area. I suppose they do intent to finish job.

I visited the aquarium and really enjoyed it, but that entrance is terrible. It's almost like they didn't anticipate the crowds that they'd get. Those free standing fish tanks get in the way, and it's an awkward flow through the space (ticket booths in the middle, coat check to the left and entrance to the right. People have to double back through the already crowded ticket lines). At a minimum they should push the aquariums to the periphery, move the ticket booths right back against the wall, and switch the locations of the customer service booth and the coat check. Ideally they could reconfigure the gift shop and exit as well, pushing the gift shop out toward the exit and extending the lobby into the space now occupied by the gift shop

I agree that the entrance is a bit of a mess, and hot, but the crowded ticket lines baffle me. Does no one know that you can buy tickets online? I walked right in at 10:30 on a Saturday, right past huge lines of people buying tickets.

I've followed this thread but I can't remember if the question was ever asked, can this facility be expanded if it's a roaring success?

Yeah, I believe there is a 2nd phase coming

I believe that was the original plan, with a first phase at around 100,000 SF and a later second phase adding about 50,000 SF, but instead a single structure at around 135,000 SF was built, with no plans for expansion.

Perhaps if the aquarium continues attract crowds, Ripley may change their mind. There isn't much land, but I'm sure they can figure something out.

I hate to say this, and it might just be the angle and framing of the shots, but in some of those pics the Aquarium looks like a bloody over-sized shed. I hope I'm wrong.

The back of it facing the tracks isn't as attractive as the front, but that's kinda a given isn't it?

any idea when they gonna start phase II retail pavilion ?

Yeah, just don't read anything or whatever, who cares...

Four posts above your own:
