Toronto Raptors

This didn't age very well! If Rogers can get the Raptors to first place in the league in March of next year, I'd take it.
A broken clock is right twice a day? Lightning never strikes twice?

Make no mistake the Blue Jays were not supposed to be anywhere near this good this year (they really should've been 4th or dead last in the AL East), this is something most people know. Management got extremely lucky with players (half of the team) over-performing. Ross Atkins still has no idea what he's doing, and 90% of his trades have been abysmal failures.

Franky the best trade he's made was the Shane Bieber trade of a few months ago. This is someone who's been the GM for what 10 years, and what do the Blue Jays have to show for those 10 years?

But since this is a Raptor's thread, i'll leave it at this: the Raptors arent getting anywhere close to sniffing first place in the NBA.

It is a Raptors thread, and there is little reason for hope from them this year.

That said, if you include this year, which is almost a lock at this point, the Jays will have been in the playoffs four of the last six years, and five of the last ten. There are only a handful of teams who have had more playoff appearances in those years. Hate on Rogers all you want, but they are not doing a bad job with the Blue Jays.

I wouldnt clasify the Wild Card as "playoffs" per se, it's more of a play-in to get into the playoffs. Similar in a way to the NBA's Play-in, but more comprehensive. It's a good thing the MLB came up with it, because the Blue Jays postseason drought would've been a lot lengthier without it.

Let's look at Ross Atkins time as GM and the lack of results in the postseason (we can also omit 2016 from his results since he essentially inherited the Paul Beeston/Alex Anthopoulos's assembled team):

And you're right; Rogers arent doing a bad job with the Blue Jays, they're doing a very bad job in terms of the team's performance on-field (asides from this year). I could go on in detail as to why, but let's save that for another time/thread.

Amid the allegations surrounding Kawhi Leonard and the LA Clippers, there's reportedly also rumours that his uncle (Dennis) requested for an ownership stake in the Maple Leafs if he were to stay with the Raps back then:

Leonard's uncle, also known as Uncle Dennis, made requests to both the Toronto Raptors and the Los Angeles Lakers during 2019 free agency. With the Raptors, "[he] asked for an ownership stake in the Toronto Maple Leafs, because that way he wasn’t asking for a piece of the Raptors," the Toronto Star's Bruce Arthur wrote.

Given that the Raptors and Maple Leafs are under the same ownership group, Dennis' request was declined.
