I wish I went to the session - I really wanted to challenge them….

If this is true:

“Our mandate demands that we prioritize design excellence, advance the industry on innovation and sustainability, and build a waterfront that is accessible to all with economic opportunities inclusive of everyone.”

How does the updated design reflect design excellence? Feels very bait and switch to me. I’m so disappointed in the changes - I feel like we’re getting Canary Landing Part 2 vs the world class neighborhood we’ve been promised for decades now.

Furthermore, given all 3 levels of government fund WT and all 3 levels of government fund transit (historically), why wasn’t WT just given the money to do the whole thing in the first place so that it’s done as communities like Bayside came online vs forcing people to be stuck in traffic or sub-par transit options for more than a decade before any glimpse of hope? Transit needs to go in as these communities are built - not the other way around. Look at what happens when a transit line goes in - all of the developers start building around them the moment they are announced - the funding model has it backwards.

You clearly feel passionate about this, I strongly suggest you try to go to public meetings as WT does actually listen to people. It's all very well 'venting' here but ....

I wish there was a good balance between "blow our mind designs", "scaled back because of costing/funding" and "thinking things threw, ie. better transit" with these things. Because I think it can be done...this is not really an "eating cake and having it too" paradigm here, IMO.

I couldn’t even get George to get Hines (their partner and landlord) to keep the jungle in front of T3 Phase 2 trim last summer after an unexpected and expensive vet bill due to ticks from that property - though I will say it was better this year.

I live abroad so I couldn't go to this meeting to advocate for better design. Did anyone during the meeting talk about the watered down architecture??

The dug up area has gotten quite a bit larger...

Pretty sure they also broke a water main on the west side of the property at the corner of QQE and Bonnycastle. City crews were out fixing for last 2 days.

Does anyone know why this work had to be done now and couldn’t wait for when the LRT digs it all up anyways? No one is living on that site for at least another 4-5 years so infrastructure could have waited no?

They are building a large transformer vault and duct bank to support the new buildings AND the LRT (which will be on south side of QQ). SEE: https://secure.toronto.ca/council/agenda-item.do?item=2025.EX25.3

EDIT: No obvious sign of any work having gone on at QQ and Bonnycastle - maybe the City were replacing/repairing a valve in a utility pit???

Curious, why are there no heights or number of floors in the thread title? Shouldn't it have 237.7 metres and 72 floors as per the tallest tower?
All of the stats are in the individual project threads within Quayside. No point in duplicating them here, that would lead to people expecting us to track cranes in the this thread, etc. The individual project threads is where all that will be going forward.
