Here\'s the new development plan, with the Blocks outlined. Yes. The mall is not being demolished. There\'s going to be stores / services open 24 hours. Really an ambitious project and look fabulous once completed

Curious how these redevelopments will breathe life into malls in varying states of health. Promenade mall isn’t quite dead, but was on the way when I surveyed the area a few years ago. Will it become a higher-end neighbourhood mall? Re-attract major mall tenants? Or make the mall unviable/require total redevelopment? Watching this one closely to find out.

I like that they're investing in the mall. But how does this place make enough money to keep operating? It's always empty when I've been inside on different days and times of day.

When Centerpoint is torn down it will be much busier.

If you go back a few pages, you'll see I wrote about how much the mall had declined.
It's got a way to go but it does definitely feel like it's turning a corner and the new built form and vibe are coming together. A new grocery store opened and a Milestones should be coming soon.

I can only assume that it's a matter of time until we see some more prominent chains returning. It's never been a hugely busy mall but it used to have all the good shops (Coach, Old Navy, Gap, Calvin Klein, Starbucks, etc. etc.) and certainly the condos will be bringing lots of potential shoppers into the neighbourhood.

In that prior post, I wondered whether it was being run down or whether the plan was to revtialize when the towers went up. I think it's safe to say now that it is deifnitely the latter and the only question is how successful that will be (and, I guess how long it will take).

I see you found my Facebook post 🤣
Oh sorry about that. It was passed onto me from someone on a FB Group or something... My sincere apologies. They (Promenade owners Serruya Private Equity) MUST have a lot of money... They just bought the Body Shop too. Perhaps, some of the stores they've purchased over the years will be future tenants in the Promenade? I seriously think that once they update the common areas of the mall, they would attract more of the big brand retailers. Every successful mall has been updated and has the well sought out brands people want. Being in close proximately to a school, they can definitely add to the mix. I love the fact there's a lot of small businesses inside too, however, they do not attract customers to the mall.
