Last Monday I took another walk along the waterfront only this time it was the area that most people don't see. I went east along Queens Quay until I hit Lakeshore and then down Cherry Street to the beach there. It was interesting to see what the area looks like now and thinking what it will be in a few years time.

Enjoy!

question from total newbie

hello all,

i have a question for anyone who uploads here:

how does one upload photos that appear full size in the window of one's post?? as evidenced by the great smuncky post above...

i've uploaded a few pics in the past few days, (archival images from Toronto Archives) but they appear as thumbnails in my message as opposed to loading as full size images.

just wondering what the trick is!

thanks!!

you will need to make a photobucket account. after that, upload your photos there and it will give u a link to the image with the image tags ( ) already imbedded so all you have to do is paste it into your post.

Fantastic pics, smuncky. You've got a great eye.

Through your lens you've captured brilliantly the desolation, loneliness and afterthought that much of this area can appear to be. (My favourites are your Cherry Street rusting bridge shots).

You travelled along what is my normal bike route in warmer weather days... this whole stretch has a very different feel during summer days at sunrise. Would love to see you snap some shots then too...

We're all still waiting patiently for what will become of that silo that was "SOLD BY LANCE TRIMBLE!" There's a thread on this board about that somewhere...

Those are some great shots. Thanks for sharing. I did that walk in the summer and was amazed at how much land there is for the redevelopment of the Portlands. It will be interesting to see how the redevelopment unfolds over the next couple of decades.

I think the strength of these memorable images lies with their strong composition, a photographer with an editor's eye for revealing intriguing details of structure that raise questions, and direct reportage using the unmanipulated clear light of the city.

indeed, great selection of pics! I really liked the skyline one with the ship in the foreground! You do have a good eye for composition and you make some good choices on what images youconvert to b&w. All this rust and decay makes for good pics, but it would be nice to see this whole area get a facelift with the promised development...

Smuncky: Good Toronto Winter pics!

Smuncky: Good Winter in Toronto pics! You have a good eye and caught many interesting angles-I especially noticed the Gardiner Expressway's condition and age has taken a toll...Makes me want to be there in Toronto again...soon!
