Toronto Parliament Slip | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto | West 8

There is a Bike share thread where these topics are probably more appropriate - though somewhat repetitive.
I wonder if we’ll see a parliament bike lane by the time the slip becomes active. Seems like a great way for everyone all the way up to Bloor to come visit the terminus.

This photo from December 2025 Board Book shows better what is going on at the slip. The piles of 'sand' are surcharging to expel water below ground for the new QQE extension.

I recall the plan years ago was for the new alignment of Queen's Quay to go around the silos. Let me guess - the classic Toronto Cheapening occurred!

I always thought cutting an arch through the silos would be fun, since it's unlikely any meticulously preserved and fetishized Toronto silo will actually be repurposed for anything.

^I have seen renderings of an off-centre hotel (designed by a certain Danish firm) proposed for on top of the silos which would be great as it would terminate the view east on QQE.

Related to this comment, why are silos the one building type that can not be demolished in this city.
I personally think they are ugly especially at our waterfront and housing would be a much better use of valuable land.

Amen. They look ugly and they take valuable space which would be better suited as a park or housing.

IF the silos @ Parliament were ever fixed up. like those @ Bathurst, they would be a great book-end and they DO 'commemorate' the maritime and industrial history of the area. If they are not fixed up they will, eventually, crumble!
