Toronto Pan Am Village in the West Don Lands | ?m | ?s | DundeeKilmer | KPMB

Is there any flooding in the area meant to be protected by the new berm between the Pan Am Village and the Don River?

I noticed that they have taken down a few of the cranes this week as the buildings are being topped off. It was really cool to see the 8 cranes in such close proximity to each other. The cranes showed up in photos used for many Toronto Star articles; often about an impending condo crash and nothing to do with the Athlete's Village lol. Now there are only 6...and not very front page worthy...but its still a site to see and it's very exciting to see this area coming together nicely :D

Are the YMCA and George Brown College residence building one combined facility?

No, they are separate, individual buildings, and separately funded. The GBC residence wraps around the 2-storey YMCA building, so it does appear as though it is one integrated complex.

But there must be some sort of leasing or ownership arrangement as the photos clearly show that they are attached; the 2nd floor slab runs through both complexes.

It certainly appears so from the photographs, as you point out, but my understanding is that these are self-contained buildings. If I learn more, I will post an update.

The glass is nice, and the green / blue at the front add some colour.

Again I wish the sidewalk was red brick, it would add a lot of nice contrast.

I am very impressed with the quality of the streetscaping but have significant concerns about maintenance. Toronto does a lot of things right but maintaining high-design public spaces is not one of them. What's to stop Hydro from ripping up and patching that pavement anytime they please?
