As good as this new green space is, I'd still suggest the Islands over this. With the Islands you get a ferry ride (great in itself), beaches, a small community,, there's tons more open grass/space (you're not limited to paths), and best of all it's car free (they didn't build a parking lot). As the Islands and Europe prove, you don't need to accommodate cars to attract visitors. It's usually a HUGE plus when city attractions have no parking built at all. Yes, I'm pointing the finger at you too Ontario Place/Therme Spa.

People can walk, cycle, or take PT just like they do when they visit Hyde Park, Jardin de la Tour Eiffel, and other attractions around the world. London and Paris didn't cave to the car lobby and build parking lots next to these things in fear that no one would visit. Will we ever join the 21st century? All too often,Toronto thinks like it's 1970.

🤔 You know... if that port wasn't there and Red Path moved out of the Harbour, we could build a pedestrian bridge across the Eastern Channel. Then any large ships needing to enter the harbour could just use the Western Channel. Cruise ships dock at that port though.

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride! Redpath is there, the western gap is not deep enough (I think) for larger ships and we have more important things (like the QQW LRT) to fund before a pedestrian bridge to the islands.
 
@hawc @kotsy drone question about this area. With an unlocking request, is it possible to do a single uninterrupted eagle eye view shot of the river valley section between the commissioners bridge and the cherry st south bridge without any issues of entering the billy bishop restricted zone or any altitude zone notifications or without losing connection with the RC?

Im considering doing an uninterrupted shot with my mini 2 from about 70-100m with my friend who has a kayak.

You can do an uninterrupted shot, but you are limited to 60m and below after unlocking the area because of the flight path.

I wouldn't mind a service here like the Vancouver False Creek water taxi services (I believe they are private) that continuously operate between various points -- if it was viable. Something like Ookwemin Minising, Cherry Beach, Ward's, foot of Sherbourne, Ferry docks, Peter St Slip (just to make things up)
