High on my wishlist for this station is the elimination of that narrow stairway up to Queen Street from The Bay (SW corner). That nook is always full of trash and the occasional homeless person and the stairs smell like piss. It's just a terrible subway entrance.

Apple Maps captures this perfectly:

With Cadillac Fairview regaining possession of the Simpson's building, I hope they enclose this and move the station entrance into the building in what could become the lobby of the new Eaton Centre south wing with easy access into what looks to become a new PATH concourse and the subway station on that floor.

Has anyone come across a floorplan for this station? I've only seen a vertical cross section. I imagine the connection between the Eaton Centre and The Bay down to the station will have to transform substantially to accommodate the kind of traffic that's generated by an interchange station. That little landing and the above mentioned stairs cannot handle that kind of volume.

With construction expected to last into the 2030s, anyone know if we'll get a better connection from the existing Queen station to the new / temporary 501 westbound streetcar stop on Richmond? Currently the Path doesn't allow you to exist from the old Bay onto Richmond St. So either you go outside at the Eaton Centre or you go further south in the Path and exit on the south side of Richmond away from the streetcar stop - either seems quite confusing for the average transit user. This doesn't seem to make sense in the long term...
