To be honest, having an individual thread for each section of the Relief Line is a good idea, but there does come some discussions that would be better suited for a general merged thread, that could potentially contain links to all the “sub-threads” and contain its own posts as well. Kind of like having a sub-forum for “Urban Life” has sub-sub-forums for “Neighbourhood Node”, “Out & About”, and “Retail”, and each sub-sub-forum have their own threads.

This then opens up the forum to some crazy ideas like this:

just to put it into perspective on what can be done if theres enough money and resources, shanghai went from practically nothing to over 10 complete lines in that same 10 years...

Yes, which would be awesome, but different political system (less red tape), willingness to throw all that money in infrastructure and cheaper workforce helps in major projects over there. Also, population growth in Shanghai alone from 1990 8+ Million to 2019 26+ million, deserves that sort of investment.

Did anyone look at the ordering on page 27 of the TTC report for priorities?

1. Scarborough Subway (now called "Line 1 East Extension")
2. DRL (which will be line 3)
3. Richmond Hill
4. Eglinton extension to the Airport
5. Finch West to Humber College
6. Bloor/Yonge
7. Sheppard East LRT and Jane LRT (still on the map!).

I wonder if this is the Provinces view or TTC's?

Actually, the bigger problem seems to be that there is a shortage of workers. However, in a country of over 1 billion, that is not an issue.

Labour availability may affect construction speed and project - but not the decision to actual go ahead with construction. This is an entirely political issue.

Well, as many have said, Line 1 will be choking with capacity by then, makes sense to have it built by 2031. Hopefully the politicians aren't lying again !

Maybe a Stouffville Line branch that goes to STC via the SRT ROW, but there has been no mention of this idea in any meeting or documents. 100% not happening.
