Because of lawsuits. The small town council I once sat on was sued dozens of times per year for "slip and fall" accidents. Cost us hundreds of thousands every year.
Yes, liability is why they apply a lot of salt, not saying they shouldn't apply any. However, since there is a ton of salt still present well after the ice and snow have melted, clearly they could reduce the amount applied a little bit. Also, the excess salt itself becomes a slipping hazard. (apologies for continuing the OT topic).

The space was built for Apple, and Apple will move in once they finish fighting about how much less they're going to pay than they originally planned to pay when it was going to open two years ago.

Here are the photos I took of The One this morning:

Here's a shot from this very frosty Monday (Jan. 20).... from the Wallace pedestrian bridge by Dundas north of Bloor.

Once completed it’s gonna look so nice from this angle!
Side note: I think it’s about to be canadas tallest 👀

Great shot. Seems like yesterday that the Yonge/Bloor skyline was dominated by the 2 Bloor East (Hudson's Bay) and 2 Bloor West (CIBC) buildings.

I’d say it’s almost the same height as aura, maybe just a couple meters, since it looks like they reached the next mechanical section. As for when it’s topping, at this pace? March~April
Neat, Aura is so sick at night. Cant wait for Pinnacle to top. It would be a shame if its planned height was lowered like they did with The One.

I doubt they’d lower the height this late into the game, especially since they’re confident in it. And I’m pretty sure it’s going good financially 🤷‍♂️

Photos taken today, Friday (Jan. 24). Since my post from last Friday, some more visible progress on the tower. At the top, work continues on the 4th and last mechanical section, levels 77/78, with forms for the walls attached to the super columns now visible. Below, the blue forms for the corners remain where they were a week ago, around level 68. Further down, the west Rail Climbing System installing the skin has climbed a level to 50, joining the north RCS at that floor, with the east RCS still at 52, and a bit more cladding visible added on the south face to that level.

Starting with the view from down Yonge Street at Dundas , then from Dundonald a bit east of Yonge. Some tighter views of the south face, with the crane hoisting some rebar for the top. Then the view from Bloor a bit west of Yonge, then from Cumberland east of Bay including a view of the north and west RCSs now at level 50. The "classic" view from the NE corner of Yonge and Bloor, then from Queen's Pk Cr W north of Hoskin and finishing off with the view from Bloor and Spadina to the west.
