why do we need to talk about "how sad we have lost this and that" in every single thread. Let's have a new category called "lost heritage and related arguments", so that the development threads here are more clean and informative, without so much crying over spilled milk. It is in every thread and gets annoying.

Because many proposals involve redeveloping existing buildings, many of which have historic significance. That may be low on your list, but it's not for many others.

much like how this or that building should be demolished because everything in Toronto is old and any 2-3s building needs to be razed for some glass and steel 40+s tower

If you marry a woman, you have to deal with the fact that she's not Stepford chattel or a punching bag. Get the picture?

Because we have a history to be mindful of, and to build on, and a local design culture to build it - compared to, say,the Asian instant cities and Middle Eastern desert kingdoms that have nothing unique to build on and must import all their talent.

Emphasis upon instant cities. That is, the stuff that sprung up like Oz in what might as well be the middle of nowhere--as opposed to whatever involves existing built fabric; in which case, kkgg7's vacuumland-idealism attitude and approach would be appalling even *there*.

By and large, if you have a problem, you might as well take issue with the thread title indicating "former Walnut Hall site".

This is very exciting - more in this area is absolutely crucial to increasing its appeal as it is already a fantastic area with great architecture it just needs some infill and social housing renovations/improvement.

As an aside: is Balenciaga simply the new iteration of kkgg7?

Good to see this moving ahead - this is a surprisingly dreary area given it's ideal location. Hopefully this will inspire more projects.
