Well, corporate calls it urban ;)
Perhaps by that they simply mean "not mega-sized"

Queen St. update: the St. Patrick Market is being renovated, shockingly. All the tenants are out, and the interior's been completely gutted. Don't know what's afoot, but it's got nowhere to go but up, given what a profound disappointment that space has been of late. Hopefully it'll live up to its potential a bit more.

Also gutted is the old Pages space just west; it's still for lease, but the paper's off the windows and you can see it's been stripped down to bare concrete. Strange to see a space that I spent several years in just disappear.

The 7-11 in this picture's gone as of yesterday. Actually doesn't surprise me: that was a huge spot and a convenience store can't make that much of a turnover for it to be rational to have there.

DAVID'S Shoes is opening in West Queen West and taking over the space of Square Fruit Market and Heelboy at Queen and Euclid.

On Young south of Dundas, there's a hole *demolished* building that exists on the east side, just south of the Canon theater if I recall. It's been there for a while, any idea what this is?

Interestingly enough, as more retail has been leased to the north of the Dundas, there's a lot of vacancies now to the south of Dundas.

I'm not sure if ING is moving in or they're just using the building for advertising but it would be a neat spot for a bank. When was the last time a new bank opened on Yonge St. in the core.

The flower shop at Five Thieves is gone. Similar to when MBCo left that block, it was there one day, gone the next, including all signage and any other trace that it had been there. Too bad. It was my favourite flower shop.

A few years ago -- the BMO branch at Queen in the Maritime Life building (south end of this same block).

Though technically, said BMO is a replacement-in-kind. Otherwise, of course, there are all those payday loansters...

I could think of so many more exciting things I'd like to see here than a bank!

LOL i was thinking the same thing, on this part of Yonge in the core the last thing i would like to see is a bank. That corner is always packed when Massey has shows going on.

I'd love to see more destination retail open on Ossington. By day, it's very quiet.... I just love how the strip reminds me of St Lawrence Blvd in Montreal (between roughly Sherbrooke and Rachel.) (The only thing missing? Caplansky's--he should've opened a small sandwich-only deli on Ossington.)
