Yes, though the sign is actually quite confusing! If "existing Cherry Street" is permanently closed we have NO Cherry Street at all but let's celebrate anyway.^^^^ That's the sign we've all been waiting for:

...in all actuality though, the street has just been rerouted. So it still exists, just in different place in the space/time reality.

One thing I noticed Sunday night was several cars were using the area of the new road so they could go north on the green since no left turn is allowed there in the first place. Doing so, it was catching drivers making a left turn onto Lake Shore off guard as they haven't dealt with something like this before. This raises the question how northbound traffic will make a left turn onto the Lake Shore with southbound coming straight through as well the other 2 turning lanes??
With the amount of traffic currently going west on the Lake Shore from the current Cherry St, advancing green will be required for the new intersection or 3 different light changes. This is only going to get worse over time as the area develops along with the opening of the park in 2025, especially for the northbound traffic.
Left turns will be a big issue for both directions of the Lake Shore as you will get drivers trying to do it regardless of it not being allowed in the first place.
I expect several accidents will take place at the intersection within hours or days when the new road opens.

No pun intended, but looking forward I can see this happen (the potential for accidents). Pedestrians and cyclists be very aware when crossing this intersection !

Time for some snow machine drag racing? That would be a new cultural event for T.O. All the dudes in their F250’s with their performance sleds hanging out the back…..a little snow to add to the ambiance of the event and you would be in business.

Ice on Keating is rarely very thick; there's a lot of water coming in from major sewers and off road surfaces that get warm. I would not advise anyone going out on that ice if they don't want to swim in some highly suspect, and still cold, water.
