Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

I hear you and agree that a name is a name as far as its 'public exposure' is concerned and I certainly find many condo names are 'annoying' and misleading but I doubt most people would think we have a 'right' to select names of private things while most would think that 'the public' DOES have a right to select the name of a public building/place.
I guess. I just think some people are being a bit dramatic with the reaction to this name. It’s not some sort of hardship the citizens of Toronto will have to bear. It really is just a simple name.

The traffic signals at Old Cherry St and Commissioners St were disabled early this morning, then removed at some point during the day. It was an entirely uncontrolled intersection as of around 5:30 pm earlier this evening. I assume a more permanent installation will be going in soon? I guess I'll find out tomorrow morning...

UPDATE (7:45 am)

No traffic lights, but new poles are being driven into the ground at the intersection.

I was just there and think the traffic lights at Commissioners @ Old Cherry are gone for good. "They" have just built up the curb on SOUTH side of Commissioners (opposite Old Cherry) and this is no longer an entrance - all trucks get to the site by the entrance further west, nearer the new bridge.

The lights at Commissioners & Polson are also gone but I assume these may be reinstalled as they need a safe way for cyclists to get from the (newish) bike track on west side of Commissioners to the old section on the east side en route to Cherry Beach - which they appear to be getting ready to re-pave.
