The comments there are suggesting a sabotage with a toxic element to get it that blue. Can anyone confirm this here?
Pond dye is quite common, and used on rural acreages to make ponds more attractive. It’s harmless to fish and any life in the pond. It also has the added benefit of reducing the amount of light that penetrates deep into the water, which helps reduce algae blooms etc. Here’s an example of it in action. I honestly really like how it looks. Here’s hoping that Love Park’s blueness is non-toxic akin to the green dye used on the Chicago River every St. Patrick’s Day.
