Some close up shots of Bishops Block showing the masonry detail, plus a few of the new curtain wall right above the back entrance.

Does anyone know if they are going to finish the north wall of the Bishops Block with the original brick or some other cladding? The west wall they just unveiled ends rather abruptly on the north side and a large opening. Large window maybe?

I just hate how telus house looks on gloomy overcast days, the greyish silver look blends in with the clouds, and in Toronto , we get plenty of those

staying at the Hyatt on King this weekend with a high north facing window ....I'll try to snap some more shots, but here are two of Shangri La, looking like its at right about the height of Boutique....and commanding a lot of attention as well!

nice, i had trouble recognizing that toronto city scene, shangri-la is really changing the face of the area with that massive wall of glass, and what's spectacular is that it will continue to grow all the way up 200m! and even in overcast, the glass looks good (the dark blue looks crazy beast).

Totally agreed.

Made a trip down there the other day to visit some colleagues (who are doing the curtain wall there), and was impressed. It was the first time that I had really looked at it in a long time. Definitely going to be one of my favourites, I think.

best skyscrapers to go up since the bay adelaide centre: shangri-la, four seasons, and ritz (the ritz ONLY because of it's slanted/skinny design),
*and speaking of which, you will probably have the best view of shangri-la as it rises from you know where .... jealous meter is going up.

The Bishop's Block windows look decidedly odd. I assume they're "fake" sashes rather than functional ( i.e. they won't slide up/down ) but why would they reconstruct the lower sashes with a single pane of glass only?

Dropping the rather fussy angled facets and giving the tower a simple, Burano-esque sideways twist might have given us a more engaging building - especially when seen from the north, from whence it acts as a view terminus on lower University Avenue.
