Why would you sacrifice limited developable land for a station? It makes sense that there was some minor horse trading to consolidate the site when the developer and province signed whatever their deal is.
I would argue that land adjacent to Yonge St, adjacent to a HWY 407 on-ramp would be an ideal location for a significant bus interchange station. Instead, we will get Bridge Station which will be the most expensive above grade subway station ever constructed.
 
I guess I can't evaluate that claim without evidence of the cost (either of the planned terminal or your alternative) but that intersection is not well-suited to a bus facility and none was contemplated in the prior plans and we're talking about slivers of provincial land so... Maybe. But I'm not convinced.

It's been legally designated for a while and went through the proper processes.

Heritage planners made the call and the fact that it's been left in crappy condition doesn't really change that and I'm not an expert capable of contesting it but I suspect calling it a "Shack" is a bit unfair.

I was just answering the question so don't shoot the messenger. The developers seem to have got a nice deal from the province so why not make em preserve one of the very few remnants of the old Langstaff community?
 
Any chance this development as it is presented survives? They have been working on the earth moving for almost three years, and some of those business's have been vacated. Will there be construction on all the subway infrastructure and all the new buildings at the same time? Always seems to take so long for these projects.
 
This development is like a 30-year build-out and it hasn't started yet. The first 2 towers must be close to approval and obviously some elements have to wait on the subway.

I'm sure it will "survive" as it's a sweetheart deal on prime land. Whether the Max Heights are achieved and how long it all takes, we'll see.
