Update:
To be known as the King Adelaide Centre, the design by KFA Architects for property owner YAD Investments calls for up to 12 storeys of office and retail space to rise above all but one of the existing buildings on the development site, including the 4.5-storey heritage building at 582 King Street West—planned to be retained in situ and incorporated into the new complex. A surface parking lot at the southeast corner of Adelaide and Portland would also be redeveloped as part of this plan.

And I hope it stays that way. As mentioned in that thread, I think that full assembly wouldn't be as good, urbanistically, as the current situation.
So you think that the streetscape would benefit by creating a "nailhouse" rather than preserving all the existing row of townhomes and building above ?

I'd prefer that the building being retained was the one on the corner but to your question, I'd rather keep the one house intact than retain just the facades of the others.

I like it. The building the corner of King and Portland IS being retained . It is only the houses being torn down correct?

These houses? Don't think they were part of this land assembly, although I wouldn't be surprised to see them redeveloped soon.

To my knowledge the only building being torn down as part of this project is this one on Adelaide.

I was surprised and sad to discover recently that Lee Valley had already moved out. :(

The Lee Valley store is still there, at least as of this morning, on the first floor of the building. It is their training / classroom area in the basement which is gone - at least temporarily - with construction work going on in the area.
