Toronto Islington Terrace | 145.08m | 45s | Tridel | Kirkor Architects

It's not saying much, but these are one of Kirkor's better builds. I feel like the firm is finally improving a bit. Far from great, but not terrible.

The third tower is coming along. This neighborhood is turning out pretty nice. Good mixed income neighborhood, with a school, rapid and local transit, and two "Main streets" to choose from (these are close to Bloor and Dundas). Just needs some more retail along Cordova, hoping that comes with the other proposals along the street. West of here on Mabelle is still not great, though.

First off, marked by a crane from quite a distance west, the new public plaza that marks Dundas's old northeasterly trajectory where Dundas now turns eastward, and then gradually getting closer along Mabelle, then passing by it, descending the new stairs beside Islington, and ending up across from the subway station.

The western 2 towers look very sharp, and then there's the eastern tower which is just looking like...quite the mess.

You're welcome!

For the record, that's one of a number of pics from a post on page 8 of this thread that I grabbed in July, 2018. The area where the new staircase is used to be an unused stub end of the surface parking lot that Islington Terrace replaced.

There are also these images of the grand staircase area, starting off with the overall site and then a view up the original staircase from Islington Avenue:

This is going to be a major improvement for the entire community: there have got to be over a thousand people who use these stairs every day, an cutting down on the oppressive concrete feel of Islington between the two bridges is a huge bonus to everyone there.

Etobicoke's Spanish Steps!
Heh, well, we'd just need to pedestrianize Islington Avenue and install a fountain, gravity-fed by Mimico Creek, turn Aberfoyle Crescent into one of the great shopping streets of the world, put a nunnery or two into remaining surface parking lots on Cordova, and generally improve the local plantings with a couple palms and lots of bougainvillea. There, first step envisioning complete!

I love it - now we just need to submit this proposal to Stephen Holyday and bob's yer uncle!
