Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I am happy that my route home has reopened.

On my way I did take a couple pics by Wally’s.

Apologies if it’s too tangential. Just thought it was interesting.

Time constraints prevented me from heading up Square One way after work on Sunday so all I could manage to shoot was the QEW to the Queensway area.
First photo is of Hurontario/South Service rd.

I dunno what the timeline is/was supposed to be, but I am surprised that the tunnel they put it under the QEW is still not in use.

Probably no work gets in the lanes in their current configuration. Once they start working on rails under the QEW is when they'll need the space, unless there's some other item in the way of a current lane. Besides, the longer they put off paving the less wear on that fresh pavement by heavy construction vehicles.

All my Oct shots are now on line

Looking at @Tim MacDonald great shots, a number of things stand out and why the QEW interchange is not done.

If one look close at Tim shot north of the Queensway, you will see Paisley intersection is still not close considering the sign said Nov 14. Floradale intersection is now gone as excavation is done from south of King St to Just north of Paisley. With the closing of Floradale intersection raise some issues and can't recall if it will be replace or not. With the intersection close, how do the folks who use the bus stop there get across Hurontario to get to/from them??? In my stop spacing list posted in the thread, I called for the removal of the stop as it is under 300m between King and Paisley stops that did not existed until about 10 years ago to meet the needs of few riders living in the apartments/Condos next to the stop. The transit riders going south now have to get off at King or Paisley to get to their residents.

Looking at the photo for the North Service Rd, the curb lane is ready, put a few hydro poles need to be move that is supposed to take place in 2025/26 as well being use for the close access lane to the QEW.

As to @Dan416 comment on the northbound lanes, the photos, MTO is calling the shots since this is their interchange with detail design drawings meeting their standards as well dealing with the Credit River QEW bridge. Look at the photo for the southside and you can see the current ramp to go eastbound is in the way if you draw a line from the finished section to the south corner. Also, by the looks, that existing ramp will be shifter to the south where new grading taking place and until that is done, the northbound lane cannot be built as well the sidewalk. MTO Stills needs to build another lane over Hurontario to allow for a future HOV lane in both directions and that may have an impact as to where work is is now. MTO did delay the placement of the push box that was done at the end of the month in place of Thanksgiving weekend,

The close southbound lanes for the QEW is head scratching as why it is not done by now as all utilities work has been done especially under the overpass with pave lane and sidewalk in place. There even some new curbs poured in various places. I thought the westbound off ramp was being shifted more south especially where it has been excavated on the southside, but the curb said no.

As for the substation, never really look at that area as I thought it was utilities taking place. I hope they plan on putting bollards around it as we don't need some driving into it and killing power for the line in this area.

I will leave it to @Dan416 to tells us what is taking place for the southbound curb lane from Fairview to CP bridge as I haven't looked at it in a week and Friday may allow me to see what paving has taken place from Fairview to Dundas.

As it stands now as of Nov 16, Burnhamthorpe station platform is fully rebar that it can be form and concrete pour for it. The guideway base is also poured with both ends still to be done as well the centre curb.

The guideway base is poured from Robert Speck to Square One Dr with both ends still to be done. All the centre curbs are in place as well.

The ramp sidewalk to Rathburn/City View still close and waiting handrail so it can be open.

Rathburn has been paved from the Transitway to the elevated ramp west end waiting striping and to be open for 2 lanes of traffic westbound. No idea what is plan for the large section of Rathburn between the Transitway and City Centre intersection as the the new lane is 6 inches lower than the existing road that will be come the centre lanes as well eastbound traffic lanes.

There are 2 large heating machines under the elevated section west of the intersection with 4 large heating ducts attached to the underside only working. No idea what taking place in this area as I cannot get a shot of it and a drone close up shot will show it.

Still got a backlog of 1500 to get to these shots for that day and a few unedited and not tag

Got a phone call in the afternoon that caused me to do an unplan trip to Dundas and a look at the corridor.

Southbound lane north of Fairview has been paved for 2 lanes and then one lane to CP bridge and waiting stripping and work at John St.

Crew cleaning up the work area for the east retraining wall to allow work on the northbound curb lane at the substation.

More restraining wall built for the new right turn lane with work getting the temporary sidewalk ready for paving to cross Hurontario. Still have to remove the corner and build the new one.

From John to Hillcrest still waiting curb for the two corners with the curb poured between them.

Paving taking place from Hillcrest to Agnes with both corners stake for concrete curb to be pour. TLK driveway is close and they have a second way in/out of the school area. The plaza driveway next door was open as it is the only access to it.

Sign at Agnes said road close from Nov 4 to the 14, but was still close with clueless drivers disobeying the sign and go against on coming traffic.

After dealing with the issue at Dundas, took a look at the guideway work between King and Paisley. Floradale Intersection is history with no crosswalk plan for the tracks. Grading was taking place next to the road, indicating to me, the concrete road curb was to be pour.

Sign for Paisley now said no left turn now as of Nov 4. Looks like they want the guideway or road curb in place before they start doing the work for the intersection.

Nov 22
After picking up the car, had a look at the corridor. Concrete curb being poured for the northbound lane with the southbound stake and ready for the curb.

Excavation taking place at John St corner as well the substation.

Both ends of the guideway between Robert Speck and Sq One Dr completed.

The 403 overpass close lanes are ready to be open and have been for some time.

Noticed generators at the stations platforms and no idea why with some seeing forming at the north end and some having heaters for other areas.

A couple shots

So I was up and out early this morning and shot a good chunk from 403 down to Cooksville GO. I'll post those in due time but this thing caught my eye while driving down towards the Go station. @drum118 is this one of the hydro substations for the LRT? It is located on the east side, just south of Central Parkway. From the ground it looks like quite a beast.

Yes it is and they are all large. There are photos of them in the thread

Did a quick search and nothing was showing up for the ESSO station, but this is what they look like at the Shell Station at Matheson . Your photo for the South Service Rd shows how large the base is

Took a drive up to the 407 overpass and the ODMA after leaving Toronto since Sunday is a good day to shoot the 407 work. Nothing new for the OAMF area that I could see.

A 21th girder has been installed from the northside to the centre pier, opposite hand for the southbound lanes as it will support support the road next to where the guideway will go. All the girders other than the new one and the guideway ones have forming on top of them start to build the deck for the new bridge. The guideway girders need the lift rings cut from them before the form can take place.

Saw nothing new from the 407 to the 401 as I was going elsewhere and don't expect to see anything new to the south of the 401 from my last visited to the corridor.

Mississauga South
With underground Alectra duct banks already installed up to the meter base at some properties along the west side of Hurontario Street, crews are expected to return in the new year to string the electrical cables through the newly installed duct banks and connect the adjacent properties to upgraded underground electricity. Remaining properties will be connected to the new service aerially in accordance with Alectra designs. Brief electrical service disruptions are expected during the power switchover and will be communicated to individual property owners/managers in advance.

As a part of this process, crews will also resume the stringing of aerial Alectra cables on the newly installed hydro poles along the east boulevard of Hurontario Street. Individual properties owners/managers impacted by intermittent driveway access closures during these activities will be notified in advance. These are the final steps to have properties along Hurontario in Mississauga South connected to the newly improved, more reliable Alectra service.

Road widening and the installation of permanent curbs and sidewalks along the west side of Hurontario Street from Inglewood Drive to Pinetree Way is complete. Driveways for adjacent properties will be intermittently impacted as crews temporarily restore them to match the grade of the recently widened roadway. Permanent driveway restoration and boulevard reinstatement is expected to occur in the new year. In the meantime, crews have begun road widening activities along the east side of Hurontario Street as well as the construction of the new multi-use pathway just south of Mineola Road. Like the road widening activities that took place along the west side, this work involves the removal asphalt, concrete curbs, and sidewalks, followed by excavation, installation of subdrain, curb preparation, concrete pour, and paving. As road widening along the east side progresses towards South Service Road, residents and businesses can expect intermittent and partial driveway closures between 7am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. Specific driveway impacts will be communicated to individual property owners in advance.

Here’s a snippet of ongoing and upcoming construction activities you can expect for November and December:
  • At the new QEW underpass, permanent paving connecting the new northbound lanes at the highway ramps with surface asphalt is complete. Final grading, asphalt north and south of the underpass, and lighting within the underpass is expected next. This will be followed by a shift in traffic to safely accommodate new northbound traffic lanes underneath the QEW, and allow crews to construct the guideway along the existing northbound lanes underneath the QEW next year.
  • Two lanes in each direction, north and south along Hurontario Street, have been reinstated Between Mineola and South Service Road to improve traffic flow in the area.
  • The new station at Port Credit is progressing nicely. Forming and pouring masonry walls at the street level are complete while mechanical and electrical installation is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Structural steel for canopy fabrication is ongoing as construction of the pedestrian ramp and stairs near completion.
  • The improvements to storm management at Mary Fix Creek are nearing completion. Flood wall construction is complete along the west side of the channel between Eaglewood Boulevard and Peel Gardens Park. Excavation and installation of footings have begun for construction of the remaining section of floodwall along the east side and is expected to be complete by the end of this year.
Cooksville and Mississauga Centre

Track works have been installed in new areas including the stretch between Burnhamthorpe and south of Central Parkway. Tracks have also been installed at the Queensway intersection.
TPSS 5, which will power the trains, has been installed near the Central Parkway intersection.
Road widening works, to accommodate the new LRT, are continuing between Harborn Road and Eglinton Avenue.
The elevated guideway is currently being erected over Highway 403 and and will soon cross over to the northern edge of the highway. Once completed this elevated guideway will ensure the smooth movement of LRT from the transit hub at Square One.

Mississauga North & Brampton South
North of Eglinton, the majority of the work is focused within the guideway of Hurontario Street. Crews continue to install tracks, conduct remedial works as well as installing steel rebar and concrete for LRT station stops.
Station stop canopies in Mississauga north are currently being installed at Courtneypark, Matheson and Bristol.
TPSS power generator sites 9-12 have all been energized. TPSS 8 is currently undergoing underground lateral works and to be energized soon.
Other works in the area are minor civil underground utility works such as telecoms cable pulling splicing.
In Brampton the 407-overpass expansion continues with the girder erection on the east side. Installation of the false deck begins early November.

It will be interesting to see what is noted above done as plan for 2024 and I think a few will be missing the date.

The base of the substation has been poured and may see the box in December. Nothing new for the QEW area.

Most of the northbound curb lane is ready to have the curb pour next week. The curb at the Queensway has been formed with concrete being pour for it as I drove by.

Both road curbs for the guideway have been poured with asphalt paving taking place between the road and the curb for northbound and no idea about the southbound lane as I was heading home.

The curbs have been poured for Agnes and Hillcrest corner. Hillcrest to John St has a curb as well at the 2 corners now. Crew working the north John St corner. Wouldn't be surprise to see paving taking place next week to get the southbound curb lane open and shifting traffic to it. This will free up the centre area for the guideway work.

Crew working on the northbound curb by the substation and that section of road should be open by the 2nd weekend of December or sooner that will free up the centre section for guideway work.

Crew were working on the north corner for Fairview and it will be interesting to see how the condo construction area will have an impact on building the guideway across Fairview in 2025.
