Toronto Hotel X (was Hotel in the Garden) | ?m | 27s | Exhibition Place | NORR

From what I know, the City and Province are interested in breathing some life into the Ex grounds and Ontario Place. The Ontario Place plan actually looks pretty good, but this hotel complex is a bit more iffy in my opinion. This is likely the first of many attempts at revamping the Ex grounds, along with the Raptors practice facility. Who knows what's next... the Ex has a ton of parking lots in an increasingly primo spot :p

Hawc; read the front page stories on this development if you want to know what's going on. To get to the front page stories, click on the dataBase link. At the bottom of that page, the stories will be linked. That's the way it works for every thread that has a dataBase file.

Well said and useful tip interchange42, thank you. Though I already knew about the front page stories (and have actually quite missed them over the Holidays, Happy Holidays!), I think your tip should help clear up some of the confusion surrounding this project.

Although unfortunately like some others here I find the building a bit of a let down overall as well I am still looking forward to seeing the completed landscape and facility and I am hopeful that the integration of the barracks and other heritage items will be a pleasant surprise. There is certainly no reason to walk around there now unless you were unlucky enough to park your car that far back and this development creates (hopefully) a nice addition to the area.

Oh and Dibs on this hotel for the next Indy race, I will pay whatever it costs!

From Lakeshore this morning.

Not liking that beige precast :/ I hope they stick with the purple exterior lighting promised in some of the earlier renderings though, that would look cool at night.

This building will not look as nice as I'd like it to but I think it will be a great asset to the CNE and Ontario Place, once it reopens. It will help to animate the CNE Grounds, so at least it has that going for it. I hope it also provides a nice, public square/park area for the general public. From the plans, it looks like that will happen. The fester the CNE parking lots get eaten up, the better. The same goes with Ontario Place. Put those parking lots underground.

Let's hope the Ex doesn't become the next Liberty Village/CityPlace
