I'm heart broken by this. Really.
As a member of the board of directors, I was a part of encouraging the hotel on the CNE grounds as a way of modernizing The Ex. I was very pleased with the design that we had up to this point. This gross jumbled mess is shockingly bad. I hope the whole thing falls through at this point as HK Hotels cannot be trusted with developing on these lands.
One of the appealing aspects of the former design was that it was frosted glass that would blend with the sky and not be so obvious viewed from outside the Princes' Gates. The hunk of concrete that is being proposed as the final design would be so jarring, like a heap of trash poisoning the view from the Gates.
This cannot be allowed to proceed.

Barracks and parking lot all fenced off as well as fencing around the trees on the property but no digging yet.

Work has started on this project with the asphalt being remove and some shoring taking place.
I don't think they are working during the CNE event, but they could be. The whole area is fence off.

Add this new development to the Convention Centre, BMO, Liberty Grand, Medieval Times, Muzik......and figure out how long before the CNE stops the admission charge to enter the grounds
