Three floors of these condos are now home to a "Laundry Rooms" brand hotel where I stayed a little while ago. While the podium is indeed a horror, I otherwise was really impressed with the experience in the building and in the surrounding Galt area.
The building has far superior apartment sizes to most GTA condos from the last generation. All 1BRs are over 600sf and all 2BRs are over 1,000 (maybe it was even 1,100?) sf. Spacious bedrooms, spacious bathrooms and living/ dining/ kitchen areas that are genuinely big enough to raise a family in, not like the majority of GTA 2-bed postage stamps we see recently. Furthermore, all apartments have nice, long balconies.
Building amenities are totally average by GTA standards which is in part to say probably the best by far in Cambridge.
The outdoor courtyard in the heritage building is really impressive in terms of the number of commercial spaces that are all rented up by nice restaurants. The massive screen in the courtyard was playing a Jays game when I was there and kids on scooters were coming from all over Galt to watch. I suspect during last year's World Series, it was the place to be in Cambridge and I imagine it would have been an amazing atmosphere.
And dang, Galt does not get the marketing attention that Paris or Elora get but it's totally on par with those places. Lots of lovely mid-1800s stone architecture, uWaterloo's architecture campus, two nice downtown libraries, etc. Half of Galt is easiest to access from these condos via a pedestrian bridge that was built by HIP developments as part of this project, and it's lovely.
I'd totally recommend Galt as a place and the Laundry Rooms in these condos as accommodations if anyone GTA-ers here are looking for a night or a weekend getaway out of the city but nearby.
