I've got $10 that says it'll be Tim Horton's Centre/Place/Arena.I think they are actually calling it the Hamilton Arena until it gets a new corporate name

At least it'd still have arena in the name - center could mean it's anything - far too vague.I've got $10 that says it'll be Tim Horton's Centre/Place/Arena.
Agreed but it's not only that, the entire area has intrinsic negative appeal, largely due to the overall botched Jackson Square urban redevelopment project that has left the surroundings an urban wasteland.I'm also excited about big name bands coming to Hamilton. They really need to address the issue of the, let's say, state of York Blvd here though. I hope the new owners put some serious pressure on the city to clean up the street and sidewalk and relocate the two social services in the area. I think they can come to an agreement that both better serves the shelter organizations, and also benefits the new entertainment district.
Perhaps an Odeon? Although that's more for singing.."Stage" is the one that strikes me as being increasingly used inaccurately. It makes sense for a temporary outdoor stage at some kind of festival. But it doesn't fit when applied to a permanent building with all of its seating, as in OLG Stage for the 5000-seat theatre at Fallsview, or Budweiser Stage for the amphitheatre at Ontario Place.
As I've mentioned here before, the venues at Rama, Pickering, and Woodbine, are all college-gymnasium or auditorium-like venues, with large flat floors in front of their stage, and retractable stands behind the floor, yet have inaccurately named them The Arena (Pickering) and The Theatre (Woodbine).

The tennis stadium at York University was called Centre for many years before becoming Stadium, although the name was for the entire complex which was more than just the stadium. And I suppose its sponsor name could be changing yet again if the grocery chain is phasing out that name, according to another thread.
Solid. How did you get the pic of the interior? Was that from the Jackson Square rooftop?Pictures from today, the underneath cladding on the overhangs is being removed. I included a picture of it removed and what it looked like. Crappy picture of interior and more substantial fencing and closure of the sidewalk for materials:
Correct. Almost every day I've walked by they've had a few doors open. The fence holds you back from good photos unless you've got a good camera, but the physical view is much better. Not much to see though. A lot of demolition inside and bare arena.Solid. How did you get the pic of the interior? Was that from the Jackson Square rooftop?
