This new development in north Burlington has been approved by the OLT with some of the proposed modifications from the City of Burlington. Land to be developed is bound by Dundas, Tremaine, and the 407 corridor.
"In its first phase, the Evergreen Community will provide 548 housing units (363 detached dwellings and 185 townhouses). The second phase will include higher-density residential and mixed-use development. In total, the Evergreen Community is expected to provide approximately 1300 housing units and 800 jobs."
This community is the first major development area to be approved as part of the new Palermo intensification area in northwest Oakville. The development plans to use widespread environmental features such as naturally-planted boulevards, stormwater retention planters, porous pipes, and more. As you can see in the images below there is significant natural heritage retention compared to comparable developments in the GTA.
This approval comes at perfect timing as the widening of Dundas in this area will be complete in the coming months, and the construction will coincide with the widening of Tremaine and the final phase of William Halton Parkway connecting Bronte to Tremaine. Keep in mind this is just a plan of subdivision and rezoning that has been approved. Detailed designs will be put together in phases over the next couple years.
