Without knowing the degree of technical errors encountered during the failure, there's no way anyone could possibly answer this question. If it was a missing comma in the code vs a fundamental safety issue with the whole system will change this equation quite dramatically.

Mount Dennis opening a week before the weekend service to Kitchener and the additional weekend trains to Bramalea begins is a good start. Always felt like the GO/UP station should’ve opened sooner as even if the crosstown wouldn’t open due to another “incident”, you could still introduce a new service pattern between the TTC and GO in the meantime. Slowly get people familiar to the fact that Mount Dennis is finally open and new connections on Eglinton could be made which could actually be more beneficial for them.

It would have been useful if the underground pedestrian passageway was designed so cyclists could also ride through it, with ramps at each end.
 
If all of this is moving forward with the opening of Mt Dennis GO and all I wonder when the TTC will rename Eglinton west to Cedarvale on official maps and signage

It says in the announcement we are discussing, that the LRT will open at a future date, at which point Eglinton West will be renamed.

Eglinton Crosstown LRT trains running again after pause in testing, transportation minister says

The Star reported earlier this week that on Oct. 16, two trains collided in the Mount Dennis train yard, leading to a pause in the revenue service test, according to a source who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The Eglinton Crosstown LRT incident that paused testing on the long-awaited line was caused by “human error,” Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria told reporters at Queen’s Park on Thursday.

Vehicles are now running again on the Eglinton Crosstown tracks and in the train maintenance yard, Sarkaria confirmed, but did not say what the incident was that caused the pause in testing.

“We will have to complete the full, 30-day revenue service demonstration period, after which substantial completion can be completed,” Sarkaria said on the timeline of the Eglinton Crosstown’s opening. “As we will resume, ultimately, in the coming days, that portion of it.”

The 30-day revenue service demonstration test is one of the final rounds of testing for the Eglinton Crosstown before it can be declared complete and handed over to the TTC for full operations.

Sarkaria, asked by reporters about the details of the incident, said the “minor incident happened between ... two trains in the maintenance yard, caused by human error.” He did not clarify further when asked by reporters.

“This is a very isolated incident and happened in the maintenance yard. It was not on the main line in any way, shape or form,” Sarkaria said, emphasizing that the incident could not happen on the main line, where trains would be ferrying passengers when the LRT opens.

“We are undertaking the most rigorous safety and testing and so, out of an abundance of caution, our teams took the time to fully review the incident,” the minister said.
