Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Ok. I want to say as someone who uses UPX daily that when Mount Dennis opens this service will basically become a subway.
UPX will be a RAPID TRANSIT Line. Without One Fare Program transfers with your PRESTO.

However, the Mt. Dennis GO Station will accept One Fare Program transfers with the TTC.

The GO doesn’t run frequent enough to be considered rapid transit and will remain pretty useless for the majority of the riders.

Not before, but on. But that is the current plan, yes.

My understanding is that they are prepared during this next board period to open everything if Line 5 is ready for opening mid board. They even isolated blocks and crews on the 32 and 34 for redeployment for when it's ready to open.

My understanding is that they are prepping to open the line with the new board on November 16th, or even after if necessary. Yes, many of the crews have been isolated on the 32 and 34 to be garage-to-garage in order to make them easier to reschedule for this board, but that's more of a function of the lead times required to create the boards themselves - when the October boards were originally written, the hope was that the line would open for the October board period. That obviously has slipped.

Wouldn't be surprise to see the line open sometime Firday or Sat after all the talking is done as well the cutting of the ribbon and the VIP trip ride. Quality of service will be light for the rest of the day with all bus routes remaining as is with the full change over on the Sunday.

The Kitchener GO Train is planned for 15-minute headways during rush hours, 30 minutes other times. Future plans are for 15 minute, but being Metrolinx...

For American commuters, 15 minutes is "frequent" for them.

The American 15 minutes depends on the systems and it more like 30-60 on systems I have seen. Even LRT service starts at 15 depending on the day and time of day.

People here complain about how bad our service is over 10 minutes and should be glad they don't use the US systems as anything under 15 minutes is premium service to the US systems as well in Europe.

Is this gonna put the RSD at risk?

Don’t compare to American cities, they are the barrel bottom standards. Comparing to European and East Asian standards, our reliability is quite bad. Especially when 10 minute means 10 min average ranging between 1-20 minutes. The GO has better scheduling but they are still using century old diesel technology trains.
