Trees are good, especially if they're big enough to provide shade.

These days signs of construction have become more visible to those who don't go to the west side of Eglinton:
- At Yonge-Eg, part of the Eg just east of Yonge is closed for the extraction shaft, narrowing to 2 lanes.
- Just east of Bayview, the road is narrowed to 2 lanes with a big construction zone.

The east launch shaft between Brentcliffe & Leslie hasn't narrowed the road much yet, but it seems like major construction there will start next week:

Awesome. Eglinton is a good corridor for medium density development.

It looks good.

It seems like it would be nicer if the bike lanes were located on the sidewalk side of road landscaping, which would give the cyclists a greater feeling of separation from traffic.

That and, not to be pessimistic, but lots of the apparent improvement here is coming from a.)midrise condo development which may or may not happen and b.)a 'green' LRT ROW which I have no confidence in the city to maintain.

Unfortunately, the trees they put in are saplings. Almost like sticks.

It'll take years, if not a decade, before they could resemble what they should be called, trees.

Unfortunately, the city usually plants dwarf trees, which are actually slow growing trees. It'll take decades before they could become...

I agree. Have there been any major development proposals along the route? It could take decades for the development to arrive.

Brentcliffe is a big intersection on Eglinton. It makes perfect sense to have the tunnel exit east of Brentcliffe where it won't disturb traffic as much.

They will launch from the east launch site and dig towards Yonge while the other two are moving towards Yonge at the same time.

All it is is a framework that governs future development along Eglinton. It doesn't necessarily mean it will happen fast or happen at all. It's possible that some development will happen over the long term.

Certain areas will become more urban over time, like Bayview & Eglinton. Some of the plazas/stores with parking lots may become a midrise condo for example.

I think the primary reason the east portal is there is because that's where Eglinton gets wider.

Does anyone know if the sidewalk will be done in a similar fashion for the underground portions of the line (e.g. around the yonge and eglinton area and the like) .. I really hope they do.
