Toronto Dragon Condos | 37.49m | 10s | Ideal Developments | IBI Group

It's hardly svelte and I have no idea why I'm inclined to give this one a pass but it could be a lot worse. Damning with faint praise perhaps?

It's not pretty - but also not contextually out of place. Filler building that doesn't draw attention to itself and pretend to be something that it isn't.

Yikes it's ugly

agreed, it kinda makes sense here. Something really clean and elegant would look out of place.

I actually think something clean and elegant would be a good catalyst for developing more nice-looking buildings in this otherwise tired-looking section of Spadina. But that said, as a developer, you don't necessarily want to increase your risks by creating something that the neighborhood just isn't ready for yet.

I don't think this project looks "ugly". The look fine or even refreshing for the neighbourhood. I wish the hideous Chinatown Centre will be redeveloped into something this nice.

When? The original building was constructed in 1988-1989, a little under a decade before the handover. I was not aware that it had been 'rebuilt' after that?

I fondly remember China Court when I was a little kid. It wasn't very big inside from what I remember.
I often play with those Discover Ontario computer terminals there that resembled a cross between a bank machine and an arcade game machine -- they were scattered all over Toronto's touristy attractions.
It would be nice to see something as vibrant and iconic as China Court back in Chinatown as Chinatown Centre and Dragon City are such depressing buildings and do little to enhance the street life. Dragon City should have been revamped while Dragon Condos were being constructed, having the developer refurbish the mall would definitely help in making their condo more attractive and desirable.
