Is that bass-wave pattern actually part of the design? If so, how? Different coloured glass/material? Nice tribute to the predecessor if real.

The retail/pedestrian areas look pretty good. It would be great to have a lively, animated strip, right through the whole central waterfront. With all the new residents moving in, I'm sure Sugar Beach is going to be packed full of people all summer. It's already becoming a party place.

It does look like that is what is coming together, from Yonge to Lower Jarvis. Is there any news about the Loblaws site being developed? I can see it staying where it is, what with all the new potential customers moving practically next door, but it would also be a prime development site in its own right.

It will certainly be redeveloped and the new Harbour Street will (eventually) cut through their garage to Lower Jarvis. I suspect we will see the Daniels Waterfront site redeveloped first, then the sites between Yonge and the new street just west of Loblaws and only then the Loblaws site itself. The store is quite new and seems to be fairly busy so I doubt they want to close it until they have immediate plans to rebuild.

And lest we not forget the LCBO site which the province is selling. Add that to 1 Yonge and you're looking at a new east downtown by the lake, a rival for "South Core" to the west. It's likely the LCBO redevelopment will include office uses as well as a residential. 1 Yonge proposes to add an office tower + 10 more floors to the Star building. Daniels has the two smaller office buildings and then there is Innovation Centre across the street.
…and Hines has Queens Quay Place just to the east of Aqualina on offer. Now all we need is an LRT to serve the area.

Indeed! The LRT (or Streetcar LRT) is necessary. And 3C Waterfront is going to be coming on stream in the next couple of years so ...

One of the conditions imposed by the Committee of Adjustment on the recent 45 Bay building approval was the creation of an LRT station in its basement (on the Bay Street side). The City are certainly trying to get this done and I bet that putting $$ into it will be part of any building approvals along QQE too. Can't come too soon
