Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Why do people seem to think that there are going to be cars somehow ending up on the tracks?This isn't as poorly designed as Queens Quay was when waterfront Toronto made a mess of it.

I care about the platforms, where there will be people waiting, the stops are at intersections which is where collisions happen, a car could easily end up on the platform, Viva platforms have decent physical barriers on three sides to prevent this, Eglinton has nothing.
 
Still status quo with the transit signals. Just in case an automobile ends up on the tracks.

What about artificial grass? Against a Toronto by-law it seems. See link.

The bylaws is different for commercial/industrial properties.
 
Bathurst and lakeshore is completely different as you have the tracks from being in the middle of the road on one side of the street to being in a right of way. If you look at the surface section of the crosstown line someone would have to intently drive off of the road into them as they have concrete curbs along them. In some places they are higher than the road ways.
That will help. But it will happen.

Surely if cars end up in Spadina station, someone is going to end up driving down Eglinton.

Will bicycle and wheelchair runnels be installed on the stairs?

In case the elevators go out-of-service, will the stairways have runnels (channels) on them to allow bicycle and/or wheelchairs (motorized or regular) to use them?

Bicycle runnels will be installed in stations on all public stairs.

When will designated MSF sites for future development?

As the Crosslinx contract is closing and property control is transferred back to Metrolinx for operations, our assumption is that the sites to the east of the Kodak Building and at the north west corner of the MSF property are now ready to be put forward for future development. Mount Dennis community is planning for a post secondary campus as you know and would like these sites dedicated to campus development so that we can proceed with planning and partnering with higher education institutions that would design and operate the campus facilities. Mount Dennis ecoNeighbourhood Campus Development and Planning Group is interested in developing a learning research innovations centre for sustainable transportation and energy technologies and ask that Metrolinx partner. Please consider the training needs for your current and future workers and how such a campus might engage with you as a major industry and leader of the sustainable transportation sector.

Thank you for your comments. The Eglinton Crosstown team has been working closely with the Mount Dennis community and the City of Toronto on the approach for the maintenance and storage facility (MSF) including the Kodak building, for nearly 10yrs. The MSF is a critical component of the rapid transit line. This past June, the Province of Ontario and Metrolinx released an additional Addendum to the 2010 ECLRT Environmental Project Report, which includes consideration for the MSF and potential reconfiguration on the land owned by Metrolinx to accommodate more vehicles, facilities, staff and TTC operators required for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension.
The final design of the project requirements at MSF are anticipated to be made clear for the stations, rail and systems contract, expected to begin in 2025/26. In the meantime, we remain as committed as always to being an active participant in discussions about what comes next for the maintenance and storage facility, and the Kodak building. Metrolinx is already an active participant in ongoing meetings regarding the EcoNeighbourhood campus idea and will continue to engage and provide updates as we move forward. We thank you for your patience.

Will Metrolinx/Crosslx renaturalize MSF Bl Crk slope with MDeNI

Mount Dennis ecoNeighbourhood Initiative is looking for major sites in the area to organize renaturalizing as a climate action. During the construction of the MSF, Crosslinx deforested the Black Creek slope, which had not been identified in planning stage. We are interested in working with you to renaturalize this area, possibly connecting it to a research /learning program with the future campus partner and future youth jobs project. Please consider asap.

Thank you, we are certainly committed to continued discussions about what's next for the MSF area. As you may know, while the ECLRT is finishing up the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension is just getting started to bring much needed transit further west through Etobicoke and into Mississauga. The MSF is vital to this expansion therefore work will continue in the area for several years and we'll continue to provide updates to the community and discuss opportunities together as the project design moves forward.

Start date for completion of Keelesdale Road intersection?

When will the completion of the Eglinton Avenue West & Keelesdale Road (that connects with Photography Drive) intersection begin? That's includes the removal of the concrete median, and the installation of traffic signals (west of Black Creek Drive).

This work is expected to commence Summer 2021 through to Fall 2021.
 
what you lose in "wasted space" you gain in operational flexibility. There's very little need to run a 3 car train at 11 PM most of the time.

This is something we always hear with systems . . . we can run shorter trains and save money etc. I don't see it being done very often. In Vancouver yes but the M-Line isn't changing its config at rush hour.

If this was the case too then I am sure we could safely run Line 2 as 4 car trains for much of the day too . . .

They should take a cue from.... VIVA and build fully covered stations.

Viva should take a cue for this and improve the 40 minute headways haha

While the TTC runs only 4-car trains on the Line 4 Sheppard theses days, they did run 4-car trains on Lines 1 and 2 on weekends and late at night.

If you are referring to the TTC here....

A quick look at the service summaries or the schedules would make is pretty obvious that no, they couldn't.
