Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Unlikely. They shouldn't be going from a 2031 peak of about 5,000 to tens of thousands anytime soon. The modelling assumed that the line went all the way to Pearson.

If capacity is an issue, I'd think the impact to Line 1 at Eglinton would be a bigger problem. Line 5 can be easily fixed by ordering some more LRVs.
The modelling that the line was based on was suspect. We don't seem to be very good with it in TO.

That large hole where the Salvation Army building was has mostly fill in with dirt and a small area for the end entrance using concrete. See no support for the new Salvation Army building unless it under the crane.

Like you I have walked the line from end to end over time, but never shot it between Caledonia Station and Larid except for the Yonge Area. Spent more time and trips from Victoria to Kennedy and Caledonia to Weston Rd. You get a taste of the various communities that line the line as well various types of urban use and looks. The big change to land use will be between Larid and Kennedy which is mostly plaza's and big box.

By the look of things, they are planning on building a vent in the centre of Yonge with concrete barrier.

The columns on the southside have meat in them to support more than an entrance.

A bit more clarification on the Eglinton Connects plan:
Project Website

TLDR: Eglinton Connects isn't exactly happening as told right now with a corridor-wide reconstruction. Instead, interim improvements will include ActiveTO style cycle tracks from Keele to Mount Pleasant with road safety upgrades, patios, and street animation (similar to Danforth and Yonge). Metrolinx is still completing the sections in front of most of the crosstown stations as contracted but this would fill in the big gaps now.

These interim improvements are expected to be implemented in 2023, with medium and longer-term reconstructions happening on a km-by-km basis subject to capital opportunities, necessary road work, funding, BIAs and neighbourhood initiatives.

A second phase from Mount Pleasant to Brentcliffe completing the eastern gap is subject to continuing design and consultations to refine the correct route. Therefore TBA.

But overall great news!

Would have been nice to get cycle tracks all throughout eglinton. Not just in front of the stations.

Only can do it if you remove on street parking as the width is too narrow for both. Then, sidewalk can be expanded as well.

The street can be built like Bloor with 1 through lanes on either directions, parking on 1 side of the street, and bike lanes on either sides.

Posted in the EELRT thread but: https://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2022/ex/bgrd/backgroundfile-226594.pdf

Line 5 as we know it will likely terminate at Kennedy, with the EELRT becoming its own distinct project that has an at-grade connection to Line 5, Line 2, and GO at Kennedy.
Are you kidding me?

EDIT: after reading, It actually doesn't sound terrible. It's just frustrating that Scarborough is always getting compromise, compromise, compromise. And literally no one at Metrolinx had the foresight that Line 5 was eventually going to be extended east??
