Toronto BMO Field Renovations | ?m | ?s | MLSE | Gensler

The Staples Center in Los Angeles doesn't change the colour of its seats between Lakers home games and Clippers home games.

Why do we expect BMO Field to change the colour of its seats?

Nobody does. What started this string of nonsense was a throw away comment by me that was part joke and didn't even really mean anything, but somehow people took that as BMO Field being "expected" to change their seats.

passing by last night noticed that the removal of the temporary supports on the east side had now commenced....was about 1/2 done at about 5:30 last night....could very well be complete by now.

The roof really looks like it's floating over the stands, which is cool. That one lonely pole at the corner of the West roof just looks silly though.

It's not lonely... there are several of them holding up the West roof. Just hard to see them all from the vantage point the picture was taken from. I hope we see another phase of construction soon where the entire exterior of the building gets some TLC to give it one cohesive look. Right now it's looking like a dog's breakfast.

If nothing else, it sure is an engineering marvel, far as I'm concerned. Pretty neat to watch it evolve.

I don't know, I think its kind of ugly.

Maybe it will look better when it is fully complete. Or perhaps I will appreciate it more in person.
I think the view from the south is not its most flattering.....that "canopy" over the south is the weakest part of the whole renovation....looking at it from the north (where that canopy is less of a dominant part of the view) the stadium does look like a very traditional British football ground and I like that....kinda ironic that one of the factors in bringing that look was the addition of a very non traditional 2nd tenant...but that is what it is.

I thought the main factor was so they could have temp seating for outdoor Leafs games.

The Argos were never that important for the reno.

How many outdoor NHL games do you think they will host here in, say, the next 10 years? How many Grey Cups? Both are/were factors.

My guess is at least one Leafs game per season.

The Grey Cups are an added bonus. But not as important.
