Sigh, another grand cinema bites the dust.
I'm not sure I'd call this one grand. The Runnymede theatre aka Shoppers I'm sure was more so. But this theatre had me very nostalgic for the ones from my childhood (specifically the Gloucester 5 and the theatre in the Saint Laurent mall in Ottawa).

Whether grand or not, it was a neighbourhood theatre and a local amenity that I certainly miss.

The Uptown it was not..........nor the University............

But it was one of the 5 large Odeons.,

This the western (Toronto) version of The Hyland; and The Danforth, The Fairlawn and The Carlton

Remember it was once a one-screen cinema, it sat 1,200 people!

Thanks for that! I did not know all this history, and only saw the theatre in its final iteration, after it had been chopped up into four theatres and lost a lot of its original grandure.
