What are you even talking about? Howard Johnson's are mostly motels, or buildings no more than like 5-10 storeys tall. The biggest ones are in Asia and they are all newer.

I googled Howard Johnsons in the 1970s and saw one story buildings with tall peaked orange roofs with green steeples. Exactly like this building.
