The idea of heritage reconstruction is finally taking root in the city. We have so few examples of it but so many instances of loss of heritage. One example of a rebuilt heritage building dates back to the 1970s, Fire Station 315. The circa 1878 fire station burned down and was rebuilt.

The heritage reconstruction component makes this project one of the most exciting in the city.

Almost had to check my calendar to make sure it wasn't April 1st! What a fantastic proposal...not only saving (and restoring) what is still there but going one further and rebuilding what was lost over 60 years ago. I hope that other developers will look at this and then come to the realization that they can't fool us by simply saving a facade here or there and calling it 'architectural preservation'..
Bravo to Streetcar!

There's lots of other 19th century commercial buildings like this, divided and compartmentalized almost beyone recognition, that could use the same treatment.

I walk by those often and would’ve never been able to tell! Thanks for these examples pretty eye opening to see what we still have

Really hope this comes to life and redeems streetcar from the sins of their baseball place mess! They did a great job of the Broadview hotel remake so this is totally within the realm of possible for them. Gooooo Streetcar! I could see myself buying a unit here!

Should we be at all concerned this is not on the Streetcar website as a current project? Seems like the sort of brand-building project you would want front and centre.

I walked by on Monday and it seemed like all the commercial units are now vacant. It leads me to believe they intend to proceed.

Not necessarily concerned IMO, although I would expect longer timelines along the horizon for developments in the pipeline considering current market conditions
