It's ridiculous the change that's happened to Charles Street in the last 20 years. It would be great to see a then vs now for the whole stretch.

Cool! I didn't even know that was a feature of Google Maps until you pointed it out.

ETA: Looking through all these old streetviews, Toronto was certainly pretty grimy and worn-out looking in the early 2000s. I do sort of miss that version of the city, though!
Cameras in 2007 weren't as good as the ones we have now. That may be contributing to the grimy look in the street view?

Perhaps, but it was also just the lack of development after the big building booms of the 60s and 70s. Toronto was a lot more run-down looking in the 90s and early 00s. People hadn't converted their old Victorian rooming houses into sterile mansions, or had them knocked down for new condos.
