It seems that the old office building at 4174 Dundas Street West just east of Prince Edward Drive is being demolished as of this morning. Bit of a shame since there aren’t many of these “floating” low rise office buildings from the 60’s around anymore. I did a google search of the address but couldn’t find anything - anyone here have an idea what’s going on?? I hope it won’t be another faux monstrosity by Dunpar, who seem to have a near monopoly on inflicting poor Lambton with their schlock...

shame. that was a nice looking building, they could have renovated it. there is a very similar building in Ottawa.
 
They keep on knocking down these nice 60s precast slab buildings . There should be a historical clause to keep and refurbish the nice 60s 70s precast facade into the new development. Or at least create the same image in metal or fiberglass products etc in the new development .
 
Considering the trend of everything else happening on Dundas West between the Humber River and Royal York, going for a mid-rise condo seems like the natural course of action here. But yeah, just hope for something that provides a refreshing departure from the proliferation of eternally early 2000's looking suburbatecture mostly found in the area.

I wish I'd taken a better shot, but it's a property cleared of any buildings between the grey one and the one with the little red awning in the pic above.

I mean, if this faux-heritage-wall-preservation bottomscape is allowed here, then what, does another actual heritage building get to be taken down somewhere else in town as a karma-swap or something? Maybe we allow the Oddfellows building to be replaced by in.DE Condos 2?

Wow, the city really ripped them a new one. I'm not necessarily opposed to a 15 storey building here, but I'm glad to see Dunpar getting taken down a peg for continually disfiguring the neighbourhood with their trash architecture.

Watch them come back with an even more hideous revision (though they'd have to work hard to top the current one).
