yes, it's unusual to not see in unit W/D these days. My unit in a dedicated rental has them, for example. Most buildings, rental or condo, built in the last 20 years have them.
 
Ah I see, thanks. I grew up living in older apartment buildings, so I'm used to having laundry rooms in the basement. Except for the bike parking and fitness room, this feels like a postwar apartment style building.
 
I wish we wouldn't build any more slab towers like the one on this site. They're an opportunity to learn and do better. The proportions and lack of architectural details make for unattractive buildings.

It looks like they're getting rid of the greenery around the original building near the intersection for a parking lot. The greenery was one of the only merits of the original design. Also, it doesn't look like there will be retail by the street, which is also unfortunate. Overall, this project strikes me as a step backwards.
