I haven't followed this building, but I think it looks worse now than during construction. So much gray and busy lines makes for a messy blandness. Hopefully the interior is top notch though.

.....nice pics

Thanks Automation Gallery! I also think the building is a good addition to the area.

perfect recipe for mediocrity

I think “mediocre” might work. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it with a passion. It is average, but not atrocious (at least not to me).

Depends how much grey spandrel and a mullions bothers you.

Before discovering UT I never heard of spandrel. Now I notice it everywhere. I don’t mind it so much when the windows make up a greater percentage than the spandrel (as appears to be the case in this project). Maybe too heavy on the grey here, yes.

Hopefully the interior is top notch though.

Some interior views on Kijiji. I wouldn't say “top notch” but big windows and natural light.

actual architects would not be any more forgiving of this building.

I imagine a pretty competitive lot generally…that might even find fault in much better designs. Cool, creative job, though.

ok, done with my curiosity regarding this building…

…oh, I found these links on spandrel glass to be kinda interesting:

I'm not really sure what to think of this 'art installation'. I can live with the panels but would have preferred something a little more creative than zombie metal people.

Menkes’ 365 Church Street Condominium is now home to a unique feature wall as part of the landscape for the building. The unique design, conceived by NAK Design Group and engineered by Eventscape, incorporates layers of perforated metal with an aluminum pattern and lifestyle silhouettes, specifically people and their children or pets.

The brushed aluminum figures were finished with a clear anti-graffiti coating and attached with vandal-resistant hardware, to preserve the installation, and run all around the east side of the building.

Of course, this building has to have the cheapest generic aluminum doors and too tall-ceiling height cheaply finished retail units. Another Wallman dumpster fire.
